An inspirational Dublin man has given a riveting account of how lives spiral into crime but can be redeemed through the power of sport.

Ger Redmond spent two years in Mountjoy jail in 2014 after becoming heavily involved in a drugs gang.

Since leaving prison, he has completely turned his life, and the lives of others, around.

Ger spoke on RTÉ’s Oliver Callan show on Thursday. His theories on how to prevent children entering a life of crime are undoubtedly important.

Ger’s father was jailed for the manslaughter of a young child in 2002 but his family’s problems began much earlier.

The Dubliner described his upbringing in Darndale as “a bit rough,” initially.
