James Austin has a lengthy history of crime but is ‘proud of the changes he has made’

A drug dealer who was caught red-handed selling heroin and crack cocaine on the streets has since become a qualified chef after using his time on remand in prison to learn new skills for when he is released.

Serial offender James Austin had a long history of crime but “prison has saved his life” and he was now “proud of the changes that he has made” to his previous drug-addicted lifestyle, Hull Crown Court heard.

Austin, 30, of Spring Bank, Hull, admitted possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and possessing a knuckleduster as an offensive weapon on October 6. Mohammed Ismail, 23, of Woodside Crescent, Bingley, admitted being concerned in supplying heroin and crack cocaine.
