These sessions will begin with explaining how to move beyond the limitations set by past convictions. We’ll address any privacy concerns under GDPR and establish a social contract before starting the sessions.<\/p>\n

The focus will be on personal reflection. We\u2019ll discuss how learning new things has impacted each individual\u2014what changes it brought, what thoughts it sparked, how they can use this learning in the future, what actions they took before, and what they might do differently now.<\/p>\n

We will identify soft skills that have been developed, whether formally or informally, since their offences. We’ll also document these skills and gather information about hobbies and roles in various activities to highlight leadership, teamwork, networking, and confidence-building.<\/p>\n

We’ll collect details on key risk factors and the steps being taken to mitigate their impact, especially if there are addiction issues. This may include obtaining reports from doctors with the client’s explicit permission, or from sponsors in support group meetings like AA and DA.<\/p>\n

Any academic achievements or new skills learned since their offence will be noted in their portfolio. Future plans will be documented, along with actions to make these plans a reality.<\/p>\n

We’ll attempt to engage with arresting officers or local Gardai to establish common ground through restorative practices, with the client\u2019s consent.<\/p>\n

Finally, we’ll consider the possibility of clients becoming peer mentor facilitators themselves, providing them with information and training. This approach ensures meaningful and honest engagement, as they share similar experiences with those they help.<\/p>\n<\/div>
